Independent Consultant Glass Technologist and Expert Witness dealing with glass breakages and failures of all types.
Carry out training and teaching in areas of glass technology.
2002 - 2005: Glass Technology Services Ltd - Principal Technologist
Consultant Glass Technologist and Expert Witness dealing with glass breakages and failures of all types. Personal injury, insurance claims, civil and criminal cases undertaken.
Carry out training and teaching in areas of glass technology for manufacturers and users of glass.
1998 - 2002: Glass Technology Services Ltd - Senior Technologist
Directly responsible for managing analytical and diagnostic services relating to glass products, materials and process quality, covering all types of glass manufacture and applications, Expert Witness, trouble shooting and on-site investigations.
Have carried out investigations into glass breakages and failures of all types, assessment of quality and fitness for purpose of glass items/articles.
Have carried out technical training for both producers and users of glass in subjects such as fracture analysis, annealing, glass testing and quality.

Taught in Further Education Colleges on a contract basis, teaching mainly chemistry and materials science at various levels including GNVQ Science, Intermediate and Advanced, GCSE, A level, Foundation Science and Engineering Degrees.
1984 - 1995 : United Glass Ltd - QA Laboratory and Glass Technical Manager
Responsible for the management of a central QA laboratory with five staff including graduates providing an analysis and technical service to the manufacturing plants of the UK’s largest glass container producer. Had direct responsibility for glass and raw material quality, provision of specialist services to customers and initiation and provision of technical support and training to plants, customers and suppliers.
1974 - 1984 : United Glass Ltd Technical/Senior Technical Officer
Carried out the chemical analysis of glass and glass making materials using both wet chemical and instrumental techniques such as XRF, XRD, IR, UV/VIS, Flame Photometry and Microscopy. Carried out the physical testing, including dimensional and strength testing and fracture analysis, of glass containers and packaging materials. Involved in the organisation and carrying out of technical projects in glass manufacturing and raw material processing plants.
Lectures and talks: Have made presentations at SGT technical meetings and symposia on glass-related topics concerning raw materials, glass defects and process control.
Have lectured to MSc Glass Technology students (Sheffield University) and MSc Packaging Technology (Brunel University) since 1991 on topics such as glassmaking raw materials, glass manufacture and glass fracture and defect analysis.
